Quick Updates

New Wig

June 20

I got an exciting gift from my friend Mandy.  Way back in the begining of my diagnosis I talked about always wanting red hair.  She went and got me a red wig!  It is very cute, but I need to do some shaping and shortening of the bangs.


Oncologist Appointment

June 22nd

I met with DH today.  He is still very happy with everything so far.  He noted that he couldn't even feel the big lump anymore.  We talked about the next rounds of treatment.  Everything is still going according to plan.  On Friday, we will do the last treatment of the first three month plan.  Then we will take a week off to let my WBC get built up a bit.  After that, it will be only once every three weeks.  He did say since it is new medication and larger doses to get through the three weeks, my side effects would expect to be worse.  Mainly fatique and nausea.  So, I am preparing for that after the July 8th treatment.


Chemo Day 12 (Half Way There!)

June 24th

Robert was my chemo buddy for the day.  Afterall, he got the last few weeks off.  It was a pretty uneventful day.  I don't even think we went out to lunch afterwards.  That rolled into a very low-key weekend.  I spent most of it working on a challenge for a mentorship group.  We watched a few movies and some episodes of 24.  




I know this isn't much of an update, but I wanted to get it out there before we start the new medications.

A few things to note: 

  • I am really hoping the ultrasound gives us good information!
  • I am still doing well.  Tired, but good. (I have actually slept a little better this week.)
  • No chemo this week.
  • I have keept singing "Halfway there" in my head all week.  So, enjoy a little Bon Jovi for the video this week.

I am stopping the counting of days.  There are going to be lots and they will all run together. (I don't need to keep track of anything else!) Oncologists, Procedures and Crafting....Oh My! Oncologist March 17 (Thursday) We love my oncologist!  We will call him DH (maybe he is the designated hitter) to keep it short and sweet.  My nurse navigator was able to stop in and meet us and it was great to put a face to a name.  We will call her NN to keep everything straight. I sat on the table with Robert and Sandy in chairs on my left.  (It's been a few days, so I am going to try to remember the details as well as possible.)  He told us it was stage 2, but that he wanted a larger biopsy sample to make sure.  He said we would start with six months of chemo and then surgery. The Clock on the Wall has been Stuck at Three for Days

More Hairloss and More Celebrations Concerts and Chemo May 5th through 8th Meeting the Schnackys and friends.  Sandy invited me to go along to a concert with her on Thursday night.  I didn't know much other than they were a group of kids who are big on TikTok, had great christian values and sang country style songs.  She had meet and greet tickets, so we got there early to be able to talk to each of them before the concert.  She had a blast meeting and talking to each and everyone of them.  I didn't know much, so it wasn't like I was going to interact a lot, so I took on the role of photographer.  By the end of the night, I was a fan.  It was a very small venue, so you felt like you were part of the show.  The music and light show was great.  We had so much fun at the Old Rock House.  If you haven't been there, you should check it out! Curveball Alert

I have always liked the curveball analogy, but this curveball in life was way out of left field.  (That should be all of my baseball references.  Well, probably not.) Mammogram/Ultrasound/Biopsy/Diagnosis Friday, February 25th (-13) Mammogram/Ultrasound Day Annual mammogram appointment at the imaging center in Festus.   I'm off on Fridays, so they are good days to schedule these things.  I had a minor scare after last years mamogram.  It required a biopsy of two sites on the right breast.  Tests were sent to the Mayo clinic for further observation.  It was a little nerve wracking without any information, but it was okay in the end.  Had another 3D mamogram in September to make d'ouble sure everything was still in check.   All was good and clear.
